Budd #71410, SRW 19.5" x 5.25" Set On Ebay
I'm giving these their own mention rather than posting in the sell/swap thread because I have no connection to the seller. I just hope they find a home here. These are the rare tubeless wheels that are the perfect replacements for F-3 and F-250 8 lug 17" widow makers. The BIN price is also fair. Stu

Oh yeah, how often have I cleaned off shelves, liquidated a collection, or sold cars only to then look back years later scratching my head when prices had doubled or more. Stu

Stu:
I am getting close to making a deal with the seller. He sent me the measurements for the center hole(4 3/4") and the wheels fit my E-350 chassis(4 7/8") for my Coe.
He measured the backspace at 4" which works for me.
The wheels are 6.5" wide instead of 7", but I think a 285/70R/19.5 tire will fit. Agree?
Regards, Mark.

Thanks for your interest in them. But the Budd Company references have it different than the seller describes. The width is 5.25", measured across the base, as shown in one of the seller's pictures. The seller's measurement across rim lips is not how it's done. His 4" backspace measurement is close. Budd shows the 71410 has 1/2" of positive offset. The backspace is 3.6125". The center bore is 4.78125" / 4 25/32".
The correct tire is an 8R19.5" which is spec'd for a 6.00" rim but approved by the Tire and Rim Association for the 5.25" rim. Your 285/70R19.5" is way too wide. It is spec'd for a 7.50" or 8.25" wide rim. I agree it would be nice because it is 35.00 to 35.50" tall, while the 8R19.5" is 33.50" to 34.00". The other tire that is approved for a 5.25" rim is the 225/70R19.5" which is shorter yet at about 32".
This wheel/tire combination might be a stretch for your application, but it is the perfect replacement for the widow makers and 7.50-17" tires that were fitted to all F-3s and to many of the early F-250s. Stu

These wheels would be great for a COE project on newer chassis to keep the original look and utilize era correct hubcaps. (also to help fill in the larger wheel well opening)
Back before i sold my 51 coe project i had planned on using these same type wheels on an 1984 chevy p20 srw stepvan with the cabover swapped over.
But now im just using the p20 stepvan as mobile storage shed.

If I may build on Josh's points. We know these wheels are Budd 71410s because they accept stock F-2/3/250 hub caps. There were only three 19.5" SRWs ever made that have the 5.25" Firestone outer rim. The others are K-H 40261 having 7/16" of offset and hub cap clips, and K-H 43814 having 1 5/8" offset and hub cap clips. These are the Chevy/GMC wheels that have a smaller center bore than the Budd used by Ford, Dodge, and Studebaker. There are also later versions that have 6.00" and 6.75" wide rims. Stu

Thanks Stu, I wanted to make sure they would accept the larger tire before I bought the Budd 71410s. It looks like I am stuck with the Vision 81 Heavy Hauler rims unless I have a custom made wheel.
I didn't want polished aluminum, but they make the wheel in a matte black, and which accommodates the large tire I need.
Thanks so much for responding and setting me straight.
Regards, Mark.

Sure, not as rare as the 19.5" but desirable and will fit the 14" rear drums of an F-3. There were two 17.5s, both made by Budd, numbers 70720 and 73240. Both catalogued by Ford under B6D 1015-A. I've had both laid side-by-side, but could find no differences in them. They are most closely related in tire diameter to a 16". An 8R17.5" tire is spec'd at about 32.5" tall while the bias 8-17.5" sold by Universal/Coker et. al. is 31.5". A 7.50-16" is also in the 32" neighborhood. It's been a few years since I sold my 17.5s but know that I asked/got half or less of the 19.5" going rate. But, again, to guys dealing with 17" widow makers they are a clean fix. Hope this helps you find them good homes. Stu
