Is it worth it?

Just wanted to get some input whether it's a good deal or not... It's a '94 with around 140 000 (KMs) so almost 89 000 Miles. Needs some work but, crew cabs from those years are very hard to find around here. Already have the 93 super cab, but getting harder to put my son in the back. $700.... I think its not really a hard decision but you never know...
Edit: Crap, the pictures didn't upload....

$700? If it runs and drives I'd jump on it!

Of course, around here that truck for $700 wouldn't have any fenders or rocker panels left from the road salt...

If the motor isn't locked up, it's well worth it. Probably even if it is. 700$ is cheap.

psst, wrong forum, that's a powerstroke....

But yah for 700... no brainer, the body alone is worth more than that in the great rusty north.

Here south of the border, we call that ^^^^^ "rode hard and put away wet".... Rust on the idler pulley means it hasn't been run in a LONG time. Still easily worth the asking price. Not sure how much market there is for RWD trucks up there; I would think that would be a major minus. It's an XL truck, steelies, no A/C, so most like the seats will look like something out of a Greyhound terminal in 1978. West Coast mirrors are cool-ish, but the execution isn't exactly elegant. Less than 160,000 km, engine isn't even broken in. Ooh looky, nice bumper.

If you need a ready driver, walk away. If you want a project truck, this is your girl. Also a def. potential parts truck.

And of course, it depends on whether you WANT a PSD rather than an IDI.

Edit - it's NOT a 1994 either. Looking at the radiator, it's at least a mid-year '95.

It definitely is an old work truck... Don't think I would keep the PSD either, just steal the turbo and put the IDI from my Daily into it, and mount up the turbo. It has been sitting, for about 4 years, lol. Not too much of a market for RWD, but my truck now is RWD and never had a problem. I live in Quebec so I know what road salt is all about, if only you saw my truck now... (Not as nice as in my profile pic) Snowing right now as we speak. My young son has brittle bone disease, and as he gets bigger it's harder and harder to put him in the back of a super cab... Just really want a crew cab, and any I have seen are rotted through. Just really wanted to know if it was worth it for $700 (CDN) I have access to a garage so not really worried about making this a project. Thanks for the input!

Jordan

EDIT: I realized as I read that I did type '94, it is a '95. I really wouldn't plan on keeping the PSD, hence I posted here. IDI all the way

IDI swap would be a whole 'nother thing. Electricals are, er, different, to say the least. What transmission is in your current truck?

I don't know if anyone's put a Garrett from a PSD on an IDI, or even if it's doable. Intake is completely different between the two engines.

I'm guessing the turbo/ engine might be dusted from that air filter being open. Unless the filter was taken apart after it was parked. A steal in new england for $700.

Why in the hell would you want an IDI in a power stroke equipped truck? Makes no sense. And yes for 700 it's a steal that's if your are willing to fix it yourself.

I wonder what is wrong with it. It may be a transmission issue. Heck for $700 it is worth a go at it

Rusted pulley and air cleaner off are huge red flags. Engine could be dusted.

I'd look the engine over, see if it starts and if it does clean the **** out of it top to bottom and make a profit.
