Angry 1986 F250

Hi,
I have a problem that is challenging my sanity. My truck will not start when it is cold. I have to use starter fluid, until it warms up. once it warms up and I have drove for a few miles it will start right up. Is there some sort of temp. sensor in the carburator??????

you neglected to mention which engine it was, but because you mentioned carb, i will assume its a 4.9L straight-6

I had this same problem when I first got my '86 a couple months ago. what cured it was a carb rebuild and control adjustments.

I wouldnt suggest rebuilding the carb yourself if you dont have any experience with carbs.. they can be quite meddlesome to rebuild yourself, and contain quite a few small parts.

also would sugggest testing out the electric choke as that may be burned out, disconnected or misadjusted

Sounds like a typical too lean choke setting.
