Hey Guys,

I have a 2003 6.0l did a rebuild on it. Got it all back together runs ok, but the turbo is making noise. I can unplug the actuator and the noise stops. How can I check the actuator. now the noise is of course when it is running.. but unplugged the noise stops. Any ideas for me to check..

Can you describe the noise a little better? Like a louder whistle?

Did you clean the turbo when you did the rebuild?

 

I ve heard of case that the vanes wear and rub cuasing them to screch. so you need a way of testing for that was well.

 

sounds like the compressor wheel is rubbing, like a high pitch metal screeching like a drill press drilling into some metal, and it sounds gritty like a bearing is shot. I can hear it through the rpm ranges and it gives me a headache. Is yours the same way?
