Quick question....is this sensor pictured on the intake manifold neck not the sensor for the instrument cluster's temp gauge on a 302? I can unplug this and the temp gauge still seems to function normmally. If not, where is the actual temp gauge sender located?
That's your Temperature Controlled Vacuum Switch. Dunno about the electrical connector on it though, never seen that.
If it's a 302, your temperature gauge sender should be on your intake manifold, just behind the thermostat housing. It will have a single wire with a connector just like those on the small wires on your starter solenoid.
Ok thanks...I'll look a lil closer but I'm not seeing anything else with a wire going to it in that area. Maybe you can answer a related question....the sensor that I photographed and also the ambient air temp sensor in the air cleaner....can the wiring to these be deleted? Do these two sensors provide inputs to the duraspark module? If deleted will it cause issues? I'm trying to clean up and simplify my engine compartment to resemble something a little more "pre smog"
