Here in TX at least you are allowed to have a weapon in your vehicle, with or without an LTC (doesn't matter if loaded or not, long gun or pistol), as long as it is concealed. "Concealed" can be on the seat next to you with a t-shirt thrown on top of it so it is not readily visible from outside the vehicle. If I as an LTC holder attempted to go into a business here that has the required signage posted stating that open/concealed/any possession of a weapon is illegal or not permitted, then as Damifiknow stated...ya gotta put it somewhere, right? Inside the vehicle is your only option at that point, aside from patronizing another establishment.
If I'm honest here, when I actually conceal carry (versus just having it at hand in the console on the way back and forth to work etc....), I don't care what the business signs say. They won't know I'm carrying unless they have a frisk the customer policy.
You might try the NRA store - they have a few vehicle mount options. Also, though I'm not a big fan of the retention lock on Blackhawk Serpas, they have a really good modular mount system that easily transitions a sidearm from waist to vehicle to under the desk or whatever.
Personally, I transition between compact and full size carry. While the compacts are comfortable enough to just keep on me sitting in the driver's seat, I don't do so because for me, a main reason for a pistol in the vehicle is rapid access for a carjacking or what have you. I can't get to the pistol fast enough through a seatbelt and to my 8 O'clock (lefty).
I'm left-handed, so while that limits me in many of the ready made vehicle options, I do have the advantage of being able to just use the door pocket. If I have to leave the pistol in the car, I use one of these, set to one number off the combo:

Its my understanding in Illinois a business can ask you to leave and that's about it unless the cops are called and they want to be dicks.
One thing I like about wally world is they allow patrons to carry inside.
It is a crime to bring firearms into several state owned properties such parks, schools, etc....... In Illinois anyway.

Yeah, I've done that once or twice. But I don't mess around at places where carrying is prohibited under TX law (which isn't many places, tbh). That's a class C felony and you're probably not going to simply get asked to leave if you get caught.

I bought parts and pieces from RAM mount off the innerweb for mine. I can provide links for what I bought. If interested PM me. It is very adjustable and I like the location.
Problem for me is that can be seen along with the gun when I'm not is the truck.
and to be clear, I would never leave my firearm in plain view....ever. I will some times holster it in my vehicle mount depending on my comfort level with what I am wearing or length of trip etc. Otherwise it is concealed on me. Missouri is 'open carry', but I have never seen the point in that.
