Hello, I am new to this forum and new to Excursions. I have been looking for the perfect vehicle for towing a travel trailer and traveling with dogs and guess what, the "X" fits that perfectly.
So I just purchased a 2005 that is in great condition and with low miles. The dealer that sold it specializes in vehicles like this (hard to find and in demand). He sends all the diesel Excursions to a diesel shop for "fixing" what is needed. This one had an EGR delete, new oil cooler and fuel pump. So, pretty standard. My situation is this. When it is cold, it misses (like spark plugs not firing...I know, no spark plugs) and lurches quite a bit until it reaches normal operating temperature. Then in runs fine. Is this normal? If not, what could it be. Remember, I am new to diesels, so not to familiar with the ideosyncrasies (sp?) of the diesel. Any help or advise is and will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Sounds like it may be stiction related, but I don't know the six-ohs very well, and since you say your rig is a 2005 and a diesel, I'm gonna move this over to the 6.0L PSD forum for you.
You need a way to monitor live data if the issue is beyond stiction of the injectors. TorquePro or Forscan & Bluetooth obd2 adapter costs about $30. It'll be the most used tool you ever purchase for your new 6.0.
Most cases of stiction can be cured by switching to 5w40 synthetic vs the conventional 15w40. There's also oil additives like archoil or rev x that many have had success with.
