First, I know this has been covered at length, so I apologize for starting a new thread. But honestly, you guys have my head spinning. I'm just looking for a nice upgrade that won't break the bank. I need to upgrade both trucks, so cost is an issue. I would like a nice double-din touch screen unit, though, and an added bonus would be back-up camera. It would be great if I could incorporate some diagnostics through the screen, but based on what I've been sorting through on the forum, that technology really isn't there yet. So, I'll keep the radio fairly simple, and do something else for the diagnostics.
couple of features I'm not crazy about but all in all for the price a decent unit. The navigation is not as user friendly as Google maps, cant dim the screen enough at night for my liking but I have light sensitive eyes, the backup camera does not come on automatically when you go into reverse you have to go to menu and select it. All things that annoy but can live with.
Good reception and sound, Bluetooth phone quality is good. overall happy considering price for touchscreen with nav
Best budget radio for our trucks, imo, is the Soundstream VR‑651B.
Scored one for a killer deal, but they can be had for ~$100 almost anywhere.
It has most features and won't break the bank. Added a 32gb USB and have an abundance of music along with a few movies for the kiddos.
Only issues noticed so far are the radio reception itself is subpar. A $10 in-line amp would alleviate the issue, but we are not worried about it. Also, the clock loses about a minute a week.
We are incredibly happy with it, though. Coupled with the Rockville sub, it was a massive upgrade to the truck for ~$150 total.

lot s of good info in this thread.
the pioneer units can be purchased for as low as $150, up to $1000
plus they have bluetooth phone , and reverse cam built in. all you will need is an install kit and a rear camera.
Ive read a lot of good things on this radio. You can pull up all of your monitors if you have the Bluetooth module in your OBDII port. Also has a back up camera.
