at least thats where it loooks like its coming from..not a big leak or anything...just would like to get rid of it..you think to fix that..its possible that the only thing causing it could be the gasket under there is going to crap? or anybody else got some other theories?..
Clean it up and run it for a while to see if it is coming from the distributor. If so, replace the O-Ring type seal between the distributor and the intake manifold. You'll have to pull the distributor, so make some marks to get the the rotor back in the same position when complete.
I've my distributor out right now... just installed the Pertronix kit in it, buffed the body up to a nice finish, converted to the large cap and 40,000 volt coil, 8mm wires and titanium plugs... I was looking at that o-ring, wondering if it can be replaced. Is the o-ring readily available at the local parts houses??

I was at the NAPA store in Boerne yesterday... too bad they're closed already, saw a sign on the door they'll be closed tomorrow too, Labor Day. Good thing my truck is just a project/weekend driver, I'll grab one before I put the distributor back in.
I THOUGHT my distributor was leaking, but it ended up being the end seal on the intake. However, I have a 302. Napa had my o-ring in stock, and for future reference, all of the parts places call it a "distributor mounting gasket".
NAPA was closed yesterday... I hit several parts houses that were open and they all listed it, but had to order it, didn't keep them in stock. I finally wiped a thin layer of blue RTV around the seal/gasket and dropped it in... I'm not even sure it was leaking, but while I had it out thought I'd replace it. We'll see what happens.
By the way, the Pertronix installation was a piece of cake, and works great!! No more points, but they're in the glovebox just in case...
I've got (had it before the Pertronix install) a rough idle problem that goes away when you rev up past 1000rpm... I'm thinking vacuum leak or a badly fouled plug, which were going to be replaced anyway. Thoughts?
First, pull your plugs and look. Make special note of any wetness or coloration and which cylinders they are in, as it can mean certain things.
Then replace all of your vacuum lines and make sure any unused ports are plugged up.
Also make sure the carb is set right.
And of course, try retiming the engine if nothing else works, in particular try advancing the distributor slightly (counter clockwise, the direction of rotor travel) to see if that helps.
