I wondered if Forscan was to blame or just pure coincidence that faults started happening after tinkering. In almost 7,000 miles I never had an issue until using Forscan just one time. Hmm.
I once wallpapered a kitchen for a customer who had their dishwasher break the next day. She called me up to see what I was going to do about it. Um.... nothing? Anyways, you get my point. Not saying that is the case here but strange timing does happen.
As to the door curiosity lights. They do turn from light blue to red when you open the door. This is normal and may be causing that confusion. The real ambient lighting doesn't come on at all during the day and shouldn't be confused with the temporary lighting that comes on in the handle area when opening and closing a door.
Time will tell. When you restore the As Built settings we'll see what happens. The other side of the coin is that many people have used FORScan and made updates without the issues you're describing. Hopefully you restore and everything works great. Then you can try the updates again and try to recreate. Anything is possible at this point but odds are it's mechanical or an errant update somewhere.
We just need more time and experience to shake some of this stuff out.
My dealer made some software changes for free and even if they charged a $100 that is not much more than what you are spending to use ForeScan and the possible issues it may create down the road. They could not get rid of the double honk as that is a safety thing but that is okay. I always just leave me keys in the console and if I leave the truck and need to lock it I do so with the keypad. No double honk. Sometimes it is better to keep it simple
More weird behavior. Starting to really regret using Forscan. Yesterday the sunroof wouldn't work. This morning the smart key would not work, nor would keyless entry. Finally got in and driving...going 55mph the truck says "no key detected". Then is fine.
could be worse you could have a key like they have in the rams lol. I could literally put my pinkie in the ignition and start the damn truck without a key, it would run fine you just wouldnt have any gauges.
i bet it is coincidence you started having these issues after forscan.
I made many of the same changes as you 2 months ago and have not had any issues.
Look for a loose ground somewhere.
Then possibly a dealer visit
Rodney, well aware of how the ambient lighting works. Thanks for the suggestion. When I had the problem it was at night, going 55mph down road with doors shut.
Drove home from snowmobiling...no issues. Will wait and see.

I know you do buddy. I was explaining it to the other poster with the ambient lighting change since using forscan. As to your issue, I'm wondering if it's an issue with your key. Do you have mykey programmed? Maybe try using your other key?
Gotcha. No MyKey programmed. Really strange. But maybe it will just go away. Maybe battery needs to be disconnected and reconnected as in a "hard" reboot before all settings take hold. So if you don't do that, maybe you get some glitches that eventually correct themselves.

I've had an issue with ambient lighting after using forscan, perhaps it's a coincidence, but it is turning itself off after a restart. I go back into the settings and turn it back on, it's not a loose wire, it's something in the computer. Who knows if it's forscan related or not.
Also, because I i really appreciate doing things the hard way, I didn't back up before making three changes (horn, TPMS, seat and wheel icons on home screen). Now, the default values are in the spreadsheet...will this get me back to zero? I'd like to run this down.

on a lot of things the default values are different for trucks. I don't mess with backing them up. I just take a screenshot with my phone before I change anything, that's quicker I think.
