Wow, they must have gotten pretty hot to melt that plastic boot. I knew this was going to be a thread about the "Rancho" shocks before I even clicked on it since they have a very bad rep on here.
I would see if you could put on some real Rancho 9000s or another quality shock and pay the difference instead of putting the same thing back on.
Rancho needs to stop letting Ford use their name for these shocks because it's not doing Rancho any favors.
X2!!!

I have spent a LOT of time in that AO and there are some washboard rds that will take the fillings out of your teeth, some of the worst I have ever driven on and I grew up on dirt roads.
Those (real FORD shocks failed as others have said, go with REAL Rancho 9000's, but running them for years and never had a failure on my trucks or Jeeps.
In your travels there did you get over to where Charles Manson lived?

We skipped the Manson hide out as I think its mostly broken up a burned, we did get to the Race Track Playa and see the moving rocks. Even if it cost me a set of poor shocks the trip was worth it. Great area in Death Valley.
Rancho does have the 9000's available for the front F-350 but not for the rear.
saw those but says only fits the rancho suspension, atleast for the 250. And speaking of a Playa, Burning man may be canceled. Black rock Playa is under water.

I've been to Barker Ranch (Manson hideout) long before it burned. Still worth the visit but not like it used to be.
The Racetrack has had a number of dirtbags driving across it defacing the pristine area. Shame and hopefully these aholes will be caught.
For those that say these new 2017's ride good...you guys must live on perfect asphalt roads. I have 12,000 miles on my 2017 F250 Platinum 4x4 regular box (no HD package or camper or snow plow prep), and this is the worse riding worst handling truck I have ever owned. Yes it is my first Ford and I am not a fan of a straight front axle so far. I installed a set of FOX 2.0 shocks and although it helped the constant bed chatter, now the truck feels sloppy handling especially when towing. I love the power, looks, features of my truck but the ride is unexceptable for a 75K vehicle. I am going to install a set of Sulastic Shackles to the rear leafs when they come out and if that doenst fix the rough ride, I'm going back to GMC Denali HD, my 2015 Denali HD rode 10 times better with the stock shocks.

Speaking of dirtbags, the folks that burned down the Manson house.
These are the last known pics of the Barker Ranch where Manson hung out, I took them about 5 pm and then headed out. It was burnt to a crisp by 730 the next morning...
The tub Manson took a bath in at the spring
The chair he sat in up behind the house watching for the law
If anyone has any illusion that the non-Rancho branded shocks are any better than their FX4 brothers, take a look at this photo. That's not Linex on that shock. 5,000 miles on my truck.
