Your Opinion requested....

Hey Guys,
I have a decision to make and I'm asking your honest input.

I have a 2015 2500HD Duramax I bought new. It's LTZ package with 26k miles. My dad is about to trade his F250 off and asked if I wanted to trade him and he would trade my Duramax in instead. He is downsizing to an F150. His truck is a 2016 F250 Platinum Powerstroke. 9,600 miles. Both are crew cab, 4x4. It would be an even trade.

I've driven both trucks and there are pluses and minuses to both. The Ford way out powers the Duramax, but the IFS is more comfortable as a daily driver.

Decisions, Decisions.

Thanks for your input!

There is only one answer for such a question - keep both.

Heck yea I'd do that trade. I'm not up on GMs packages but the Platinum is pretty much the top of the line SD, not to mention it has under 10,000 miles.

ETA. Forgot to mention it's a Ford so that is all the matters. If you air the tires down a bit and get some good shocks on it the ride will really improve. I'm sure the tires are set at 80psi which is way too much when you're not towing or hauling. Try airing the tires down to 65-70 and see how it rides then. Go down to 60 if the TPMS will let you. I can go down to 60 on mine but it will trigger a light every once in awhile.

There's no plus to a chevy in any comparison. Take the deal and get the Ford. IFS is best for 1/2 tons anyway.

X2 on airing down. A dealer can lower the TPMS threshold for you, had mine set to 65, so I run 65/60 front/rear when not towing. Made a very noticeable improvement, but still a little more harsh than my dad's 2500 chebby. Both our trucks are gas burners, so it's a pretty direct comparison IMO.

I'd do the swap, but I'm a Ford guy. As long as finances aren't negatively affected, go for it.

Thanks for the input! Leaning towards the Ford. I don't mind the harsher ride, but the wife doesn't care for it on long drives. I pulled a fifth wheel with it from WV to FL and back last year and it did great. It'll be a DD most of the time. I move a 12k lb excavator a few times a year with it as well as a dump trailer and camper. The Ford does outperform the Chevy when pulling.

I would go with the Ford. But of course you are on a Ford fan site LOL. Chevy has always had a better ride. I do like the step bumper Chevy puts on. But this F-250 is a platinum. I don't know how that compares to the LTZ package but it is top of the line. I just don't know how you don't go with the F-250. My .02

After the experience I just made with a denied warranty claim on an F-350 with 9000 miles on it, I would stay as far away from Ford as possible!

Well, back on 08 we bought an 06 Ford F350, King Ranch, low mileage, 1 owner, all maintenance etc.

We could have gone to a junk yard and picked out a vehicle with no tires, motor, or transmission and came out ahead. But, we also drove an 87 F250 until the bed rusted, still have a 98 F250 that is worn smooth out, but still goes, and a 2000 Excursion that has been a peach.

Before making a decision, look at forum threads on what has gone wrong on the model that you are considering. And at what mileage it happened. Might also purchase the Torque Pro App from google play and an OBDI2 adapter and really look all over all of the readings real good.

You want give a crap about that good riding IFS when you are having to rebuild it on a regular basis. Give me a solid axle truck any day over IFS. Fords transmission is every bit as good or better than the Allison now, and the performance of the 6.7 speaks for itself.

But the IFS is EXPENSIVE to lift! And if you want a truck have a truck, if you want a car, get a car!

I would get the Power Stroke!

Ford is a better truck imo. The chevy will have more problems. Who wants square wheel wells anyway.

Get over yourself and stop spreading bad info. If you're going to tell everybody this you should put in the detail that it was the rear glass that broke. Hard to prove it did it on it's own even if it did...
