We have two '95 F250 XLTs, both 5-speeds, one RCLB, one SCLB. Looking to put roll cages in them. Non racing-grade or anything, just something that will make the cab roofs stronger in a rollover. That's the weak point of our trucks, after all, esp compared to later generations. Posting here rather than the general '87-'96 section because our cabs weight at least 300 lb. more than the gasser counterparts.
Trick is gonna be going around/through the dash. Esp. if we opt for a bar across the front of the cab at dash level. The OBS dash presents a challenge in two ways - it extends backward and butts up against the door trim, and there's the curved "rise" for the cluster. We're willing to pull the dashes and modify them if needed. Just wondering if anyone's tried anything like this in a truck they use on a regular basis. I've checked everywhere I can think of and I'm only finding major mods for race trucks, with the whole dash decommissioned. The earlier generations of truck, esp. the '73-'79, have a much "flatter" dash with more fitment options.
I know Travis will be doing a cage very soon for his race truck. It doesn't sound like you want to get that crazy, but it may prove to give you some good ideas for your application.
