FORD mud flaps are nice

Not sure if this was mentioned here before, but I want to share my thoughts with you guys about these. They are fantastic, look great, affordable and super easy to install, all four took less than 20 minutes to.

Do they use already installed factory hardware (soon new holes to drill?).

Can you please snap a few pics and post. One showing the mounting hardware and one or two from the sue and back.

Thanks

I agree Jim. I ordered them on my truck and they are much better then the previous generation OE flaps.

You'll have to ask Jim. Mine came from the factory installed.

no drilling, they use existing holes but add a bunch of retaining clips. I installed them on my truck, very simple.

I didn't think the new SDs had any holes on the wheel well lip. At least the one I looked at didn't.

Rear flap
Front flap
Front flap uses clips that grip the flare and existing holes. Rear uses only clips and a support bar that comes with the kit and bolts through an existing hole behind the flap but of sight. They are very secure as the retaining clips grip using sharp teeth.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but it seems to me those clips would chew the paint off and cause problems down the road if you live in the salt belt.

Ok. Question for you since I've never seen a two tone '17 with the OEM flares. How do the flares attach to the fender? Are they like the '11-'16 style and use two sided tape at the top and screw/clips at the bottom?

x2. Those barbs on the clips look like they'll take the paint off the back side of the fender lip when they get installed. I may just take my chances and go without when I get mine this fall. I didn't put flaps on my '12 Denali and now 5 and 1/2 years later, I have ZERO chips on the rockers/lower-body. I would assume that Ford is using a similarly tough paint along the lower body.

All I can see is that there are push pins on the bottom of the flare front and back. I assume the top uses double sided tape.
I don't have the instructions anymore so I'm not sure if the non fender flare vehicles use the clips.

I have the OEM flares and I was able to get the clips over on the metal on the fender and the flare to secure the flare. I'm not worried about the paint because of the aluminum body.
