The legendary Charles Edward Anderson Berry SR...Chuck Berry passed today. We've lost a musical icon. RIP!!!

 

I had a lot of good times listening to his music.

 

Hadn't really thought of him as being 20 years older than me --listened to his stuff a lot when I was a kid.

The vid prompted me to search around a bit. He was quite the showman.

Youtube has several vids of him playing with Keith Richards (and others).
Some great stuff.

But I read that it wasn't all roses. His career tanked in later years, and he was somewhat bitter. Anyway, Richards happened to see Berry's guitar sitting there with the case open one day, so he picked it up to see how it felt. Berry came in and socked him in the face. Hard to believe.

But he was pretty much a pioneer of rock.

There's a clip of Berry (probably from "Hail Hail...") scolding as Richards tries to bend a note on one of (Berry's) songs.

Keith starts flat and bends the note up. Twice Berry stops him, and shows him how its done. Starts with the note bent. "If we're gonna get it right, let's get it right". Keith doesn't say **** LOL
