Doors Wont Open ( 1965 F250)
So im restoring a 1965 f250, I had the outside door handles and custom cab handle plates powder coated and installed them back onto the truck , but now when pushing in the handle button, the doors will not open.
Is there an extension that needs to be put on the button rod ? or is there another button that needs to be put in place?

Door Latch
You may need to remove the door latch assemblies from the door and check for wear. If they wear too much, "where the arrow is pointing in the pictures", there won't be enough travel in the button to open the door. That worn spot can be welded up and dressed down and it will work like new. Providing the rest of the latch is in good condition. If you just want to get by you can put a plastic wire nut on the end of the button rod. But if it's worn a bunch and you shim the rod you won't be able to lock the door.

Was this the same setup as before you had them powder coated? If so, it almost sounds like the powder coat is so thick it is causing issues. These outside parts were originally chrome which is very thin compared to powder coat.
If you didn't run this setup before then this might help. Well, either way it might help.
The Custom Cab Finish Plate is part number
R.H. - C3TZ-8120966-A
L.H. - C3TZ-8120967-A
Applications were 1963/64 F100/1100 (81B) Custom cab.
So these plates were not used in 1961/62 or 1965/66 at all. But they can be made to work. If a truck was originally equipped with these Custom Cab plates then it could have had a longer rod, or pin as they called it, on the outside push button.
Door Outside Handle Button and Guide Assembly.
C1TB-8122454-A - The pin is 3" long. Used with all Standard Cabs, and all 1961/62/65/66 and any 1963/64 without the Custom Cab finish plates. The finish plates were not used when the truck had the side mouldings.
C4TZ-8122454-A - The pin is 3 1/4" long - this is the pin used with the Custom Cab finish plates.
If you have the 3 1/4" long ones then I suspect the thickness of the powder coat is playing a factor, barring what Crop Duster pointed out, which could be contributing regardless, too.
