Custom Cab door handle plates

I'm looking at the 14th picture of the passenger's side door - Ford : F-100 | eBay

I haven't seen those before, are they a 65/66 thing or when were they used?

I believe more 63 and maybe 64, were not used on 65/66.

C3TZ-8120966-A .. Right Custom Cab Door Handle Finish Plate / Obsolete/Reproduced.

C3TZ-8120967-A .. Left Custom Cab Door Handle Finish Plate / Obsolete/Reproduced.

Original applications: 1963/66 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT500/1000 / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Since the plates were available at the parts counter as an accessory, they could be installed on 1961/62's.

But, be aware that not only are there R/L specific gaskets for these plates, but the door handles have longer pushbuttons.

1963/66 F100/250: When these Custom Cab finish plates were factory installed, side mouldings were not factory installed.

If you see a truck with both (like the one in the link-which has overkill, because it also has Custom Cab nameplates on the doors), the plates were installed after the truck left the assembly plant, either by a dealer or owner.

Don't be fooled by the black CA license plates on this truck by assuming it was sold new in CA, cuz it wasn't. It was assembled in Kansas City, not San Jose, the black plates were issued after 1968.

1963/68 CA black commercial plates have the letter preceeding the numbers.

The inside door handles are correct for the truck, but a lotta other stuff ain't (tailgate finsh panel, hubcaps, engine and etc).

When the inside handles were factory installed, they could be pointing straight down or canted a bit towards the front.

If you wish, you can take the handles off, then re-install them in any position you like, since there is no difference in the splines on the handles or door lock remote controls.

Did you get a new truck there Bill? I didn't know they were putting the 5.0L in the trucks, that's great, my last truck had that engine (though not nearly as tuned as i'm sure Ford has them now) and I loved it.

Bill, on the window build/option sheet I have, had those door plates listed as 'door handle scratch plates'. Guess the dealer could name it what ever they wanted. I know the dealer installed them for my friend, along with other stuff he had them install and do. My friend was pretty picky about what he wanted. I know he was going head to head with some of the idiots that worked at that dealership.

Not that it has anything to do with the door handles but this same truck was for sale on ebay a few months ago. It must not have sold as the seller says he has had it two years in the description.

This is the new 5.0L "Coyote" OHC engine, first introduced in Mustangs a coupla years ago. This is not the 'cam in block' 302/5.0L used 1968/96.

Not so much of a blast, considering the (231 1/2" long) elephantine behemouth weighs approximately THREE tons. Add another 300 lbs. for the driver.

I've never been a fan of that fake patina look. There's something about it that never looks right.

Don't forget, you also need longer door handle push buttons. If you don't get the longer pushbuttons, the plates will be useless.

The door handle push buttons you have now...without the plates...are too short to use w/the plates!
