91 explorer 4.0 skipping
I have a 1991 explorer that i bought used and just started have a problem with it running rough starting a few days ago it startted sounding like it was skipping so i changed the spark plugs and the wires no help at all then i changed the o2 and no help the fuel relay no help. And when you press the gas all the way down you can see black smoke lightly form the tail pipe. if you let up on it little you can fill the power pick up a little.

Do you have a CEL light come on? You might want to look at cleaning the IAC motor, the mass air sensor, and checking for any leaks around your intake gaskets...

On your '91, you could also get the trouble codes yourself with nothing more than a piece of wire. Check out www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

Thanks Everyone, I got it fixed after a lot of testing it turn out to be the TPS.. Its alway the last place you look.. after you find it you stop looking. again thanks for all the help .. Keith
