I am buying a 2011 Ford F550 Regular Cab with a Century 312 Wrecker Body. I will be hauling cars, trailers, and Step Vans with truck. I wanna know the Towing Capacity of the Engine, and the MPG. And if there is a way to save gas with Wrecker lemme know please if not I will just get the 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel
I don't know about towing capacity, but I get 10 mpg in town empty, 13-14 hiway empty, and 9-10 hiway towing. that's all around 65 mpg.....it drops fast when you get above 70.
itll move a house, but it takes a lot of gas to do it.
Wow Chuck's First Ford that's a huge camper. I will be towing the Motorhome that Drives on its own Power. So what do you think stay with the V10 or swap for a 6.7L Turbo Diesel
If you aren't going to sink a lot of money into modifying the truck and already purchased it I say drive it and see how it works for you then decide....
Never really checked the gas mileage towing this but it's definitely in the single digit range and I dont care... 06 F350 V10.
Damn that's crazy never thought I'd see that with a Half Ton. Anybody got any pics of them towing Heavy Stuff with the V10 Motor
Just curious if you're new to the trucks or Fords? He said it's a F350 which is 1 ton srw. 1/2 ton would be a F150 which never had the v10 and would be pushed by that load when it came time to stop it.
No I'm not new to Trucks. And yeah I've seen a Ford F150 with a 6.8L V10 Motor mounted with a Whipple Supercharger and a TorqShift 6 Spped Automatic Transmission. The guy got 10.89 @ 125.35 no Drag Slicks on Goodyear Wrangler Tires with Kevlar.
It's kind of interesting that someone contemplating the purchase of a V10 gas engine equipped truck is overly concerned about MPG. Anyone who's contemplating the purchase of such a vehicle with the intent on either using it to tow heavy, or to use it like a car cannot possibly be too concerned about fuel consumption. Either way, it's pretty safe to say single digits would be on par.
For what it's worth, my 2016 F-250 CCSB 4x4 6.7L 3.55 geared is getting me about 12 to 13 MPGs with city driving, and about 16 to 17 MPGs on the highway. Admittedly, I have a heavy right foot. Am I complaining about the fuel consumption? NO!!! I knew what I was getting into when I purchased the truck. I am a long time Ford dealer licensed tech too, if that matters.
And...no I don't tow with it either. I use it as a car.

1/2 ton probably made as a street racer sleeper not for hauling heavy. It certainly wasn't from the factory which I thought you where asking about seeing "your buying a F550 with a V10".
I just wanna know something simple that's all because I was thinking of doing tuning on the Engine like an Aluminum Block and Maybe the Whipple Supercharger as well since the HP Rating is just **** Poor, or just getting the 6.7L V8 TurboDiesel Setup and I would still do some tuning on the that engine as well
