Setting up gravity fed Aux tank 6.7 2012... make sure I do it right!

I am setting up an aux tank in my new-to-me 2012 6.7 F250. The truck came with a transfer tank already installed; all I'm doing is plumbing it into the tank.

It's an L-shaped DeeZee 100 gallon tank that I purchased the DeeZee hookup kit for.

https://www.deezee.com/product/l-sha...k-black-steel/

https://www.deezee.com/product/auxil...onnection-kit/

The install seems pretty straight forward; cut the fuel filler hose in a location that keeps the T Fitting level, clamp the DeeZee T thing down and plumb it into the tank. The DeeZee tank is supposed to be self venting.

What bothers me is all of the stories I've heard about the tanks not draining properly, diesel pouring out of the gas cap, needing to extend the vent hose, etc.

My question is, what do I need to do exactly?
Are these leak stories from people T-ing off the vent hose and its not a problem for me?
If the aux tank is filled and GF decides to open the fuel cap for some reason... is fuel going to dump out of the tank?

Someone with experience in hooking these up would be much appreciated.

You have to place an inline pump to move fuel from the "transfer" tank to the primary tank. Leaving at as gravity fed will cause problems and could get you into serious trouble.

Can you elaborate more? I actually went the gravity fed system because it is supposed to be more reliable With the pump requiring power, you need to make sure there is fuel in the aux tank (or burn it out) and the issue of the pump being left on. Pumps also have all the same problems the gravity has; coming out the filler neck, vent hoses, etc.

I may do a pump in the future to add extra filtration. But for now I was going to go with a cheap and (what I thought) reliable system.
