^^^ Regarding their song, the answer is an emphatic "yes"!
I never really had an issue with Maggie May, but my wife feels about it like I do Benny and the Jets. It's become second nature to change the station whenever it airs...
Not really sure where this thread's heading, somehow I see a Thelma & Louise direction...............
Two songs I hate with an unbelievable passion are Fancy by Reba McIntire and The Nights The Lights Went Out In Georgia by Vicky Lawrence. In addition to their stupid lyrics the music sucks too. The world would be a better place had those songs NEVER been created or dumped onto the airwaves.
I've always like Vicki Lawrence, both as an actress and a singer.
But yeah, even though that's the song that "made her" on the pop charts, it's best played in the background. The lyrics have always seemed like a 5th grader wrote them.
Here ya go. Less pain ! It’s so crazy pain is left on the stage after the air guitar. You
can drink a 6 pack go to the store, an finish it off watching the group rolling on the stage & an spit beer all over the stage. La-la bamba. This is so long is like calling the ticket agency for ticket to Wake Island.

No offense to Bruce fans but when he tries singing other classic songs popular during his youth he raises a stink that's unbearable. La Bamba is an infectious song, gets a half-drunk crowd all acting like they're Hispanic.
He also butchers the Van Morrison song Brown Eyed Girl but that's one of my favorite songs, brings back memories of an early girlfriend---I might be biased?!

There are some performances that can't be improved upon by the artist du jour. Brown Eyed Girl is one of them. Bruce need to Let it Be....
Let there be an appointed Lord of the electric guitar. He who has the last word in every song. May La-la be stricken and repetition be held at no more than 20 seconds ! .

So are ya's talking hip or dirty?
And FWIW said Lord of the guitar has minions doing some of his bidding---'tis a large and thankless job dispensing opinions etc.
On the topic of live performances vs recorded/released songs---in general most things studio-recorded as about as "perfect" as can be expected, at least from the artist's perspective. Since it'll be around forever the goal is to make is as good as can be.
Live recordings are hit or miss whether they're "better" or "worse" than the recording but almost never do the live versions capture the mood of the room. That aspect is what makes any one concert a stand out or a dud. Back in my day of hastily thrown together bands----The Byrds coming to mind---they'd be great musicians but personality conflicts and not enough time performing as a live band often had their performances sucking big time. The Byrds were such a band, would rarely even tune their guitars together before taking the stage. Listening to them live was NOT the same as the record--far worse IMHO.
Boston was a quickly formed band BUT the musicians Tom Sholz chose for the live performances only had to learn the first LP's licks which Tom had self-recorded playing all the parts we heard on that LP. Tom, being a bit of perfectionist would not have let anything cloud his music, the band members would have to suck it up, play their parts and duke it out after the show.
Huey Lewis & The News were another fabulous band that recorded very well, had more than a few very popular records. Seeing them live was a whole other experience--I would say that was as good as if not better than their recorded versions. They were A BAND in the true sense, seeing them in '96 was truly one of the best concerts ever. Same for The Eagles---stunning true to their recordings and changed a few songs up making them massively more interesting than the radio mixes most heard.
