I am to the point in my restore to decide on what wheels to buy. Found some at Summit Racing but don't know enough to be sure they will fit right. They have a 4.125 backspace and 3.69" center bore diameter. Truck is a factory '51 F1. Thanks.
I'm not sure whether you are looking for a near stock wheel or something custom. But here's what I can tell you. A stock F-1 wheel is Ford 8C 1015/K-H 31283. It is 16" x 4.5", has a 3.42" center bore and .62" of positive offset. The below chart will help us compare it with your aftermarket wheel. The backspacing calculation on the stock wheel is the sum of half the rim width (2.25"), plus offset (.62"), plus the rear rim lip (.50"). This yields a 3.37" backspace on the stock wheel.
Clearly the Summit wheel has enough center bore. You say the Summit wheel has 4.125" backspace, but you've not said how wide it is. If it's also 4.5" wide you'll have a bit more offset than stock. But lets play a bit and assume the Summit wheel is 6.00" wide with same offset. This yields a backspace of 4.12". This gives you a wider wheel with similar fit. If these assumptions are close to right the wheel will be similar in description to the stock F-2 wheels. Except with the half ton bolt pattern. Stu
Okay, that means they have 1/8" of positive offset if I'm doing the math in my head correctly. Should fill up the wheel wells, but work fine with modestly sized tires. Stu
