i got a 86 6.9 xl, runs great and has low miles.
plannin on a d60 swap but it's a 2 wheel drive as of now with the sterling 10.5 in the rear. What I need help with is what I need to be getting to put the d60 in, what year do or do I look for and so on??
If you have a F-350 it's a bolt in change. Axle, springs, shocks. If you have a F-250 you need to fabricate mounts for the leaf springs (rear brackets should work off a parts truck, unsure if front frame horns are different) or maybe use one of the RSK kits as a base to minimize fab required, or adapt the axle to coil springs. A '79 or earlier axle would probably be easier if you go the coil spring route.

I did a RSK for the cost of about 150 if you don't have the items in stock.
personally, if I had coin for this project, I would use 05+ sd axles.
if youre on a budget, get what you can get
if you wanna stay leafs, I would go with a KP D60
That's a cool ranchero man! I suppose I should do some junk yard checkin and measurin and see what's different from my set up. I work at a fab shop so metal and fab shouldn't be a problem.
It will be easier and arguably better for you to get 05+ axles. Going in and cutting out coil buckets and adding leaf perches takes a fair amount of time to do right. Often you can get a wrecked truck cheap and part the rest to recoup costs.
You have a 10.5 rear, or 10.25? 10.5 wasnt used until 99. Either way, the superduty axles will be the cheaper way to SAS. I bought both of mine with extra goodies for less than the going rate of an OBS D60.
Staying coil with superduty axles might look / sound easy, but i would whip out the tape first. Leafs are easy, and i also suggest a RSK
