Do not mean to beat a dead horse (topic)!

Learned a long time ago not to discard original components until the replacement has been installed. It is not just limited, I have found a few of the most popular Ford part supplier's are cutting corners by purchasing imported parts.

Just received a request from Ford part supplier to submit a review on the item's I recently received? Tend to feel If I can not have anything good then best not say anything, yet if customer's were to review, which I intend doing, then perhaps I would not be faced with this particular dilemma; unless I can figure out how to install the light onto the china cigarette lighter housing then it appears I need to use the original housing, with any luck the china element will work??? Intend looking into other sources, perhaps those mentioned in prior thread? Anyhow, done beating the dead horse.

Depending on your sequence number in your VIN, a person can still get the parts NOS from some of the vendors. If you are before 648,001 then likely these.

Cigar Lighter Socket and Retainer Assembly C1TZ-15055-A

Cigar Lighter Lamp Assembly C3TZ-15072-A

The housing around the lamp just sort of snaps into the slots in the socket and retainer. So a gentle squeeze on the lamp housing and it can be released from the slots.

The fuse is in the middle of the picture and came with this socket and retainer on the left. There is no reset hole in this fuse.

Chad, thank you for the info!. I have a couple spare element and light bulb housing, now it's a matter of waiting components to arrive so I can reassemble the ignition switch and test the lighter.

Appears the 'china' housing has some type of Dookickie sticking out the rear, similar to a pin for an electrical connector would attach to? Not clear to me how the light bulb and housing would attach; thus, intend using the 'china' element with the original housing, can not see why it would not work?

IMO, feel my 'go to' Ford part supplier's, except for a few items. no longer carry the quality merchandise I use to rely on. Intend sticking to selective few suppliers who offer OEM/NOS merchandise.

The barrel shaped lighter fuse threaded onto the socket, then the wire slipped over the threaded end of the fuse.

The original factory installed fuse had a hole in it, used for resetting it. The replacement fuse may or may not have the hole.

The "gypo" socket is different than the original, has a place for a wire to attach that no 'genuine Ford' socket of this era came with.

Thank you Bill; the ignition switch components arrived an hour ago, installed and if all goes well should be able to test lighter some time tomorrow. I am going to use the original housing with the "china' element and see if it works; if not. cut my loss and check, beginning with sources noted in prior post, for replacement??

Hi Chad. No problem on the fuse. I still have the original on the 65'. It has the reset hole like Bill mentioned. Think I have a spare or two shoved away in a dark corner somewhere with the rest of my stuff. Just wondered if you still had yours. Most people don't know they even exist. . Bill told me years ago about the reset on the fuse when I was having trouble with the lighter. Bill told me, most people just trash em, not knowing there is that reset. Guess all the new ones don't have that cool feature.
And thanks for asking, doing much better.

Sorry, going to beat the poor horse yet again. Found I can not mix and match the china lighter components with the original. The china lighter works so intend leaving as is. The newly purchased, yet to arrive, element with bezel will work in the 65 with the 302. Found a source for the socket and retainer, Green's, but before getting a quote thought I would check if the socket can be purchased separate, similar/same as in pic's?
