7.3 Smokes when pulling a trailer???

2001 F-350 PSD Auto 4x4 w/ 49,000 miles. i just recently purchased a 16' enclosed trailer for work that i tow just about every day i just started to notice it blows smoke when i am pulling the trailer, not just when i stomp on it but even at steady speeds. when i am not pulling the trailer it does not smoke.Profanity Removed
at first i thought it was white smoke but now i know its black. But sometimes looks like white and black . Should i be concerned??
Thanks

When towing a heavy trailer you are putting more right foot into it whether you realize it or not. Black smoke is from over fueling or lack of air. Make sure your air filter is clean, and that your turbo is giving enough boost.

Do you have the usual aftermarket gauges? Since you are towing a lot I would highly recomend them. I would also consider a aftermarket air intake system like a Tymar. I agree with cartwright you are just working the engine more than when its empty.

There is a slight possibility that one of your injectors is starting to go bad. Do you also notice a slight miss when it blows the smoke?
