If the car is already running, and i plug in my phone to charge, it switches to apple music and I don't want it to. I noticed that if I plug the phone in before i start the truck this doesn't happen. Any way to plug the phone in after the truck is already running and not have it switch over to appleplay music?

I don't have an iPhone but my Android does this. I just charge my phone from one of the 12v plugs in the center console. I have a fast charge 2 port adaptor that I leave in there. It charges MUCH faster than the USB plugs do.
I only use the USB when I want Android Auto to launch so I can use google maps.
You can go to the Apple Play settings on the screen and disable it. The. You plug it in to charge and go to settings to enable it if you want to use it.

This is honestly stupid that this is the way it works. I don't need 2 freakin charge cords in the truck.

Well it sounds like you do not want to use Car Play anyways. Just use one in the center console or off the dash. Or like the other person suggested turn it off. Sounds like you just want to complain.
I understand my method may not be ideal for every one but it works well for me.
So with me, it is a volume issue. When I plug in my iPhone, it comes on with the volume all the way down. I know that this may sound stupid, but I thought that Apple Play was not working, but it was just a volume issue.
I disabled mine too many small annoying things
Its nice on wifes f150 that doesnt have navigation, annoying you cant use google maps in place of crappy apple maps
