Hello all, I have returned to being a Ford owner after a few years in another brand. Recently purchased a lightly wrecked '13 Platinum Supercrew and after a couple of months of evenings and weekends, she's back up and running. Here are a couple of before and after shots.
Thanks Green Power. The grill was a $50 Craigslist deal or I could of spent close to $1,000 on a Platinum grill, easy decision for me and my budget. I like the look of stock wheels better than the XD's that were on there, more my style. THe XD's had 305/55-20's, pretty big tires. I'm running 275/70-18 KO2's, no worries about tire rub now.

I am running the same size tires on my F-150. The grille looks great in my opinion. If I were in your shoes, I also wouldn't of spent the extra $950 for a platinum grille. I love the unique look you gave your pickup. What tint did you put on there?
No clue on the tint, it was already installed when I bought the truck. The previous owner took pride in his truck, everything was mint on the interior.
I'm not typically a fan if white trucks. But I like your truck. Everything just compliments the next. The grille with the HID's, the newer wheels on those BFG's, the overall stance, literally everything just looks so right. FWIW that grille is my favorite grille option on these trucks.
Hi KSU, I'm thinking of buying a similarly wrecked f-150, and rebuilding. In your opinion, is it worth it?
Green Power, Here is the reason I went this route: 1) I couldn't justify the cost that dealers were asking for a truck equipped like I wanted, they were asking $30k USD for a Supercrew with 90,000 miles. 2) I plan on keeping the truck for many years/miles, so the reduced value of a Salvage Title did not concern me. 3) I bought a truck that I could do most of the repairs (everything but paint). A salvage vehicle doesn't work if you pay somebody else to fix it.
Do not expect to fix one and turn it for a profit (unless you own the body shop), anybody looking at buying a Salvage Title vehicle is looking for a deal!
Long story short, I ended up with a nice truck for about 30% less money than buying a clean title truck, fit my budget, cost me a few evenings and weekends. Not driving a Chevy with 160,000 miles and a tick in the motor....Priceless!

It is ridiculous how much dealers are asking for used! If I bought the particular one i am looking at, i would anticipate keeping it for many years.

The best thing about an F-Series is how well they retain their value.
The worst thing about an F-Series is how well they retain their value when you're shopping for one.
I feel like I got super lucky when I found mine priced about $2-4,000 less than anything comparable, and with only 48k miles on it to boot. I did buy the only F-150 on the lot at a Chevy dealership, so I'd like to think they simply didn't realize what they had on their hands
