It has been hot here where i live and i was wondering if that alone would cause the temp gauge to go as high as the middle area of the gauge...then way back down...thermostat is rather new (6 mos) rad is full of coolant/water and water pump is ovbously pumpng cause if it was'nt i'd be overheating...any ideas?
That sound's like it's in the normal range......also when in real hot climate you will see more fluctuations in the gauge as your thermo. opens and closes. Also if you put in a 180 degree thermo instead of a 192 you would notice those fluctuations more.
ONLY THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS IT IS MOVING UP TO 1/2 and back down to low then back up to half...it really never did this and i have been lving here almost a year now. lol atleast i know the gauge is working...
Mine doesn't keep fluctuating like that but it sit's dead center since I got it (only had 21,000). Bad sending unit? Not sure if that run's thru the puter too?
mine usually stays in the lower end of the gauge, thats why i am kinda curious...when the wife drove it yesterday she sad ity only happens when A/C is on...
Like I said I would look at the thermo. Maybe it is a 180 which means it would open sooner and more often and considering where ya live ????...........I always go by orig. specs. I figure the manuf. spent a lot more time researching every detail than i ever could (not that they don't screw up now and again). I have run hotter plugs etc... in different cars but still only within fact. rec'd ranges. Like i said in another post (im far from an expert) the capacity of todays cooling sys. aren't as forgiving as they were in the past. If you have a 180 degree thermo in a cold climate it might not matter but in 100 temp it could. if the thermo opens and the coolant in the rad hasn't lowered enough it's gonna run hotter and open/close more often..........and with a hot climate and strain (a/c) etc.... it could maybe cause your symptoms...........like i said im no expert but for the ease and $ of a thermo I would replace it again and at least eliminate that as a possibility. Maybe the recent one you put in is correct but defective. I allways start with the easiest/cheapest and work my way up............I have found thru exp. that plug's,wires, solinoids etc....etc.... can be defective.
