Question reference vs. kappa 5x7

i have 4 5x7 infinity kappas in my F250 CC. I am getting ready to rewire and run the amp to them. Are the reference series 5x7 noticeably better? They aren't that much $$$ and I am going to be in there anyways to rewire.

I haven't got sub going yet, but will get two 8"s or 10"s someday.

Would it be worth it sound wise to change the 5x7's?

Thanks for your wisdom.

I have the Kappa's in mine and really like them with my two 10's. If you plan on getting subs someday you are going to want to amp the 5X7's so they will be able to keep up. My F250 is my daily driver so I am only running 450 watts in it and still use the stock deck. It sounds very clean is stealthy and can still get loud when I want it too. Either choice on the 5X7's will be a huge improvement over stock!!! Good luck!

i am running the kappas off of my alpine 9815 and am getting ready to put in a 85x4 amp.

i'm just trying to figure out if upgrading form the kappas to the reference series would be worth the $200.

The Kappas are miles ahead of the References in every category used to measure a speakers build quality and sound quality. The Reference line is Infinity's entry level line. Kappa is the mid level (but top level for coaxials). Perfect, as the name implies, is the top of the line speakers from Infinity.

Keep those Kappas. They are much nicer than the References. If you're going to amp all 4 speakers, get a nice 100x4 amp. Those Kappas will love you for it.

AFAIK, they don't make Perfect coaxials. If you mean you'll drop some Perfect components in, then yes. Those comps rule!! If you HP the Perfects at around 80 or so, you can feed them about 150-200 wrms/per, no prob...if you know what you're doing Very nice components.

No I don't know what I am am doing

I don't know what wrms is.

I do know the kappas' say 300w peak.

I have gotten as far as i have per your and prplayboy's reccomendations.

I'll probably keep the kappa's unless you think upgrading to the perfect's is worth it.

The amps I have been looking at are:

RF Punch 700x 87.5 x 4 at 4 ohms (I think this is what I hook up at?)

RF 851x 110 x 4 at 4 ohms

Alpine MRV F540 (forgot the specs)

Which one? Beats me!!!

Price isn't the deciding issue. Big sounds are!!!

Still have to figure out subs too someday.

How great is America? To get audio help on a truck site!!!
I have seen car audio forums, but have been scared to death to ask anything for fear of getting laughed off the planet.

At least here you guys are easy on us mortals.

Thanks again.

Laters. J.

Unless you're in it for some serious sound quality, you might not notice (appreciate?) the sq difference between the Kappas and the Perfects, so an upgrade might not be worth it to you. BUT, you will not be dissatisfied with the Kappas outstanding perfomance. Of the amps you mentioned, the Alpine might be the best. The RF amps you listed have set crossovers (you can't adjust them) and get quite hot. The Alpine is a very nice amp, though.
