Ford - Dodge
first post here. just found this great site here the other day.
A little background .... Sorry to say I have been a long time
( since 1974 ) a dodge guy. 2 vans, 2 ramchargers, 3 dodge
pickups. we had 1 used ford f150 pickup many years ago.
presently we have a 2005 Avalanche with 97,000 miles.
nice truck and like what it can do but my wife calls it the
**** chevy because of how it has nickle and dimed us
throughout the years. Our first and last chevy ... LOL ...
So I was going to buy a 3/4 ton Dodge until I thought hey
why not give Ford a chance. always like how they looked but
the price was always out of reach for what we wanted.
I went yesterday to a Ford dealer 5 miles from my house
and looked over and got to drive a F259 XLT.
I liked it alot ! I would have to order what I want.
here is what I had them price out.
F250 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 with short bed.
18" all terrain tires
XLT Value Pkg
extended runnig boards
Nav system
shift on fly
snow plow pkg
led box lights
uplifter switches
remote start
tailgate step
sync 3
MSRP with destination/delivery was 48930
invoice 46233
then the paper he gave me had 3 other prices
A/Z plan 44545
D plan 44645
X plan 46385
my price because I guess my company is on some list
..... 44885 ....
from reading some other posts here this seems an AWESOME deal.
We have not taken a new RAM 2500 for a ride to see the differance
between the both of them. Have not either talked to a RAM salesman
to see what I could get one equipped the way we wanted.
So .. a couple of questions ...
hows my price ? can I get say $500-$800 off to hit my target number
or is there no more wiggle room ?
Why in your opinion is the Ford better than a RAM ?
Thanks for all replies !

Rob ....
YES .... Sorry forgot that ... that is all we need.
want a 3/4 ton to be able to plow our driveway and
to pull my snowmobile/motorcycle vnose trailer.
Rob ...
But I also agree on adding the Premium package for the XLT.
ETA: They're all great trucks. Pick the one YOU like best and drive.
About 40% personal trucks are GMC or Chevy. All the owners say they buy them because they ride nice.
People running Fords as Personal are about 40% as well. Explanations run from tough, dependable, etc next to no one says they ride nice.
Dodge runs in the other category along with Nissan and Toyota. Roughly 20% run these as personal truck. Anyone with a Dodge runs a dodge because that's what they have always run a dodge. Nissan and Toyota generally fall under the car people category who want trucks that are cars to drive.
These are what I have observed personally after being on hundreds of different work sites in the past and of course just my opinion.
