My truck through code P2623 today which is the injector control pressure regulator. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it an easy fix?.....like if I had a replacement ICP I could quickly swap it? How bad is it to drive on? Between my schedule and the local Ford Dealers, I couldn't get in until Thursday.
Any insight would be helpful. In 308k miles, I haven't had to deal with this one yet.
Check the wiring. Should be tight & oil free. I wouldn't drive it, could leave you stalled and needing a tow. Wiring, plugged screen, or bad ipr, or combination of 2. What are you using to monitor live data?
I have an SCT tuner but that is it. It couldn't even pull the code (had to swing by Ford Dealer to figure it out).
Just watched a video on the ICP. Probably not a project that I could take on at the moment (just moved out to CO and am in an apartment....so no garage or driveway at the moment).
Guess I might want to drop it at Ford dealer tomorrow and get a rental car. Hopefully it will be fixed by Thursday when I get back in town.
Just a heads up, you are talking two different things. There is the IPR (Injector Pressure Regulator) and the ICP (Injection Control Pressure). The code you have is referencing the IPR not the ICP.
For about $30 you can get TorquePro or Forscan & a Bluetooth obd2 adapter. They're much better for reading codes than a scanguage2 & most tuners.
You can tell the dealership that you suspect a faulty IPR or bad pigtail. Most likely they'll replace both if the IPR is bad. I would ask them if they wind up pulling out the IPR that you would like a picture of the condition of the old screen if any debris is found on it. If the windows on the screen are punched out than something got into the pump which will lead to HPOP pump failure.
