It's hot and muggy in the summer, you'll have a pretty decent chance of seeing and even being in a Tornado (I'm on about #6 or so), the winter can suck though.
Remember me when your thinking about a vacation spot. Branson Missouri, Silver Dollar city are about 30 minutes from where we moved from, and hope to go back to.

Just a heads up here guys. We have a dinner and get together in Carthage this Wednesday. Meeting around 6:00, but if you can make it later, just let us know. Carthage is about 60 minutes south of Raleigh, down US 1, and hang a right on 15-501. Stay right at the Hardees in Carthage to find the restaurant.
