Buying out of state will cost you both sales tax in the state you buy it and also in state you register in. You won't find a deal good enough to offset the extra tax.

Misinformation given... when buying out of state just let the dealer know you will only pay taxes in your home state. I have bought 4 trucks by getting on a plane having the dealership pick me up at the airport sign paperwork and be on my way.

Where do you live that let's you do that? When I bought a Polaris RZR last year, I ended up purchasing in state because i was warned by the out of state dealer about this. This was backed up by people in my local RZR group.
When in NY bought from MA.
When in NH bought from NY.
When in SD bought from MO.
I would tell dealer I live out of state and will pay taxes in my home state. They would have a document to sign and submit to dealership state. This is in the past 15 years and the last one last year. Speaking from hands on experience not word of mouth.

Crazy but good to know. Maybe Arizona has different laws about that because otherwise, I have zero clue why a dealership would've brought up and talked me out of a sale like that.

I live in Ohio and have bought in other states and have found that an adjoining state will collect Ohio sales tax and pay it to Ohio for me. When I bought a car in Illinois they didn't charge any tax but when I went to Ohio DMV to register the car I had to write a big check there to pay sales tax. It may be similar in your state.
I've purchased in NC, TX, VA, PA and NH what living in NY and every time either the dealer arranged to pay my NY taxes or I paid nothing and when I registered I paid my tax. You were given bad information.
