How badly can I damage my braking system, calipers, pads, rotors, if a speed sensor goes??
story goes, just got this 2011 f350 6.2L just last week, and today as I was driving to the dealership to complain about my four-wheel-drive not working in auto mode I noticed that I was burning a lot of fuel about halfway into town . As I approached town, Check system light came on, so I got out of the truck and all four rotor are smoking!
Needless to say it is at the dealership, and they said they are going to take care of it, and the auto lock on the 4x4
I am not aware of any way that a speed sensor can cause the brakes to be applied. That seems very strange. I'd like to know what they say about it if you get a detailed explanation.
If the rotors were hot enough that they were smoking you could be looking at ruined brake pads, warped rotors, along with whatever caused the brakes to drag. Also keep in mind that the heat generated could damage the wheel seals in the axles if it got hot enough for a long enough time.

I didn't know the 350 had an "auto" mode for 4 wheel drive........
It should be just 2H, 4H, or 4L....that's it, unless it has the manual shift transfer case, then it would be 2H, 4H, N, 4L.

The AUTO setting on the wheel hub. the vacuum isn't working, and now i am sure along with some other things.
I will update this post tomorrow when I know more.
as for the smoking, it has been raining out so i am hoping it was mostly steam, but that is probably wishful thinking.
I will get them to check the seals, and whatever else you guys believe could have been damage, man i still reek of brake pads
