Ok, if you look at my forum you can see I have a problem with my coils. I guess the guy I got the truck from put 3/4 ton axles but kept the 1/2 ton coil springs instead of leaf springs. My question is how hard would it be to just get rid of the coils and finish the job by putting in leafs? Im not sure if it can even be done, Im just an oil changing kind of machanic. Is there a web site that someone can share on this subject?
The guy that had it before thought it would be a good idea to weld the springs to the plate. So, when I buy the new bottom plates Im going to have to buy new springs also. Sense I have to do that I might as well buy everything I can and make it as new as posable. Thats why I was thinking on maybe converting it over to leaf...
i think it would be easier to just replace with all new coils set up, sorry i can't help more i don't know what it would take to convert to leaf. i think coils ride better and overall do better off-road, but thats just me.
It would be a pain to convert to leaf from coil. Because of the lack of support on the frame that you dont get with coil but comes on leaf sprung trucks. You can get your frame boxed but you just need to find someone to do it.
