Pcm Reprogramming Question
Hi,
Just a quick question.
I have a 2005 6.0 PSD Excursion and have a chance to purchase a PCM that came out of a 2004 Super Duty truck for $20.00. Can this be reprogrammed easily/economically? I just figured for that price and if it can be done it would be handy as a spare on the shelf.

I can't remember which way they went - look at the motor passenger valve cover for the year of the motor in the X and then also on the Superduty.
The problem is that there was carry over on Superduty and some early build 2004 actually came with a 2003 motor.
Then
On the X, I think the 2005 model year actually has a 2004 motor as Ford did not update the running gear and suspension.
Do some research.... though for $20....

Excursions & Harley Editions are PATS and regular super duties are not.
You would have to have it flashed to the VIN of your Exc and that's going to cost you a trip to the dealer or a shop with IDS and paid subscription with Ford.
