Battery change
It started about 2 months ago, my door ajar light and dome light would come on at times when driving. Saturday morning I went out to start it and battery was dead, tried to jump it over, but it wouldn't even turn over. Purchased new battery, started fine but gauges don't work, power windows don't work, no inside lights work, radio won't work, and all lights on instrument panel stay lit when started. Checked fuses inside and outside. Any ideas????? 2004 Excursion Diesel

The intermittent door ajar/dome lights is probably due to an intermittent door/window latch switch, you have 6 of them in an Excursion. Very common for them to get intermittent.
Has it been raining a lot recently, particularly immediately prior to the battery going dead?

Never disconnect the + cable first, use the NEGATIVE cable for the first disconnection and the last connection. This is a SAFETY issue.
