Question for those with weather techs... are they hard plastic or a soft rubbery material?
You need to remember that there are two different products. Make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.
Both the WT and the Husky FLOOR LINERS are relatively stiff. Floor liners are also thin. My WT cover both the front and back carpet from door sill to door sill, from under the dash to the front of front bench and from the rear of the front bench to the front of the rear bench.
In my experience, the Husky FLOOR LINERS are slightly stiffer than the WT. I have bought both within the last 3 years. Huskies in my 2000 F250 and WT in my 2016 F250.
If you want something soft and rubbery, you need to go with MATS.
Mats cover the carpet from under the dash to the front of the front seat and from the transmission tunnel to the door sill in the front.
The reason that I go with the FLOOR LINERS is because a remarkable amount of crap comes off of your shoes on the side of the transmission tunnel. Especially around the go pedal.
My weathertechs were sitting on the doorstep in the box when I got home yesterday. Put them in last night and very pleased. I've had WTs in my last 3 vehicles, no complaints. These new ones for my 2017 f250 are better than previous models because the passenger side came with some plastic pieces that have spikes to stick in the carpet and hold them in place. The ones I had in my 2015 f150 did not have that so they tended to move a lot.
THanks jschira, that helps a lot. I guess liners are what I'm looking for. Supposedly the x-act contours are liners and are soft and rubbery. I'm considering going with those, mainly for that reason.
Not sure why everyone thinks Husky Liners are foreign, but they still claim they are made in the USA. Am I missing something here? These have worked great in my '15 and just ordered a set for my incoming '17.
Just ordered a Husky X-Act Contour rear mat / liner for my incoming truck. I'm taking a wait and see approach to gauge the quality and feel of Husky and decide whether to keep the carpet mats up front or not. Back is definitely getting covered due to kids getting in and out. Wife didn't like the WT mats in my '08 because it made the truck 'feel like an old farm truck.'
I had huskyfloor liners in my 2008 ride and it has seen mud up to running boards in its day. When I removed them after all those years the carpet was almost brand new. I proceeded to put them in the 2017 until they came out with new liners.
They work. It's a no brained. I can wear my muddy rubbers or safety boots without a worry of getting cab filthy. This fall I had so much mud build up on the brake it took a chisel to remove it and a good 20 minutes. Realized after the fact I had half an inch of mud build up.
Not sure about weather techs but huskys work and work hard.
I've had both weather tech and husky liners and I personally liked the husky liners better .. the Michelin edge liners look interesting and I may try them this go around
