88 EB 351W. Stopped at store yesterday, came out and all i got was a click at the starter relay. Tried jumper wire between S term and pos term on relay and same 'click'. Wound up using jumper cables from batt directly to starter and it started. Put in new relay and still got same 'click'. One thing to note is i've had to turn key switch a little harder lately before it would start. Any help is great.

It sounds like you may have either a dead battery, or bad battery cables. They could look OK, but internal corrosion can make them useless. The starter draws a LOT of current, and needs a nice clean path from the battery.

I had the same problem with an Explorer a couple of months ago. I cut off the cable ends at the battery and stripped back about 3/4", only to find lots of corrosion. Cleaned it up, put new ends on, and it fired right up.
