IMHO absolutely not worth the money.
Have you ever said to yourself before, gee I wish my truck's steering worked better.
You turn the wheel as far as you need to.
The only difference I feel is my 17 is noticeably stiffer then my 12 was.
It takes exactly 1 1/2 turns of the wheel from straight to lock.
In a 2013 it takes a little over 2 turns....big deal.
So half of you say it's worth it and the other half it's not. I'm just wondering if you can tell a difference when driving it in a parking lot.
so from what I'm gathering with it you have to turn the wheel less times to get into a spot where as without it you turn it more?
In addition to the great advice to go drive each of the trucks, did you go look for the TFL YouTube video of the 2017 Super Duty overview? Go to 3:00. It gives a great rundown of this option.
Adaptive steering is an electric motor in the steering wheel that changes the steering ratio at low speeds. Also with tow/haul on it also changes the steering ratio so if you happen to swerve to miss something you don't end up with your trailer ahead of your truck.
I assume the motor used in the adaptive steering system is also used to vibrate the steering wheel if you get out of your lane.
To be honest if you have it you can't tell. If you don't you won't miss it. Unless you drive one truck right after the other and count the turns needed for lock to lock you won't know the difference.

The first week or so after delivery, I had not noticed anything and wondered if it was working (or a waste of money). Then I got back in my wife's car and noticed I was really having to spin the wheel -- particularly when in reverse.
I back all of our vehicles in to park them, and that's where I really notice the difference.
Since most of us back these big trucks in to park them, over time the adaptive steering results in an easier job to do so, and probably millions of turns of the wheel over the life of the truck.
I assume the motor used in the adaptive steering system is also used to vibrate the steering wheel if you get out of your lane.
Definitely a different motor!
The whole thing is the old "I don't need power steering" argument. Look how silly that seems now? Am I the backwards guy that would opt not to have it? Sure! But do I think not having it is actually better than having it? Not at all! I love being cheap and if I could buy a brand new Model T I would. I plan to buy a used one and use it for a year, just for the experience! BUT, technology IS better today. Adaptive steering IS better than non adaptive. The ONLY downside IS $700 cost. If you're even considering a high end truck without it, you're just being silly considering all the fluff options you've already selected.
