Feedback/Mixture Control Solenoid

In need of a Feedback/Mixture Control Solenoid for an 85 F150 300 ci inline 6 cyl. single barrel carburetor. Any early model, 80-86, should work.

I am rooting for you. I hope you can keep the original computer system, but this is what you run into. Planned obsolescence I think is the real agenda they have.

P.S. I think you are going to need about a 1984-up carb for the electronic feature.

Did you list your setup or carb number in the other thread? Here is a list of the different ones on car part .com. I did a country wide search and got some hits but that was one for a AOD. So if you narrow down what you need we could try looking and see if someone has it. I just ordered something from a junkyard in New York state and it came in a few days.

I do not see my truck on your list. My truck is an 85 150 300, 4X4, 4 speed with a single barrel carburetor. I agree with you, I might be forced to convert to an older non-electronic controls. We will see, thanks for your interest and input.

I am going to guess it's the 4x4 Federal at the bottom of the list. I plugged that in and this is what I got from a country wide search. Like I said I was surprised the junkyard people were so responsive when I ordered the piece from New York, your results may vary.

It is not a calibration type of item, just an on-off type of thing.
Internally in the carb there is an idle circuit and a cruise circuit. I believe it ports vacuum to cause it to go lean.
So it needs the same bolt pattern and the same size 3 openings to match the carb.
If you find one off a 2 barrel carb (jeep or ford) the lower can parts may interchange, like the spring you need.

Lowest cost I found was $39.10 = $5 S&H

I thought about that, but I figured if he is going to the trouble to get one from a junkyard, he might as well try to get a complete carb that can fit his truck. That would be more parts possibly for later.

I would buy and 85 or 86 Carb, even if the 86 had a TPS you could just remove it from the end of the throttle shaft.

Are you doing all this to pass emissions testing?

That was my goal as in my area they do emission testing until they are 25 years old.

Thanks Jim, I had some time today and checked with some older hardware stores looking for springs. An exact match was not found but three possibilities were found. I think I will try replacing the spring and see if it works, if it does great, if not now I know where I can get a replacement at a reasonable price.
