I have never owned a diesel truck before. I have a chance to purchase an 04' F250 Harley Davidson version for 10,000 dollars. It is in excellent shape with just 117000 miles. Two owner and I know both owners. To date the owners have not had any problems with the 6.0 diesel. But everyone is telling me that I should not buy the truck???? 6.0 badbadbadbad????? Anyone have any advice please?
Start with reading the sticky's in the tech folder lots of good info on buying a 6.0 and what to look for. They do need attention and not to be taken for granted. But if kept on a good maintenance schedule and things addressed as needed they are a powerhouse and will last a long time.
That's one hellava deal! Even if you had to dump 5k in repairs as soon as you bought it, you won't get a better deal. The HD 6.0 is a collectors truck down the road. The fact that you know both owners is 1 in a million. Read up extensively on the 6.0, if you can turn a wrench it's a great truck, but the parts are expensive. If you do not do most of your own work the repairs can be almost double.
Agree with the others. Do lots of reading, know which engine generation you have, review maintanence records and upgrades?
Does it have the newer style hpop oil pump if earlier generation! Etc.
