New F700 owner with some questions (6.6, at454, air brakes)
I just bought a 16' stakebed with some of the features I was after.
Having driven it a couple thousand miles, I'm starting to have a to-do list.
The first thing is I'm putting a 13' van body on it so I'll need to shorten the wheelbase. While I'm at it, I think I need to go beyond just re-springing and go air-ride.
Next is going to be the transmission, I'm not against an auto but need something with a lock-up converter. MT643/MT653 are cheap and easy but I guess if I get a rearend with low gearing it might be cheaper to get an Allison 1000 to get the RPMs down.
Anybody have a source for a cheap rear cut-off that will do the job?
My driveshaft is currently 2-pieces, with the shorter wheelbase, should I plan on making it a single?
