Does anyone know of a link to a good explanation of how the EGR and intake system work on 6.0Ls? I am trying to understand how the EGR and intake work together and understand the general operation of the system.
Thanks.
Thank you very much for the information, but I am looking for 6.0L specific, and mostly how it interfaces with the intake manifold, and general operation and how the intake works also.
Not sure how much you want, but the way the intake works is there's air in it (usually pressurized by the turbo) and when the piston is falling and intake valves open it draws air into the cylinder. There is a pipe coming off the exhaust up-pipe that draws air off the exhaust and feeds it through an EGR cooler into a passage in the intake, which is blocked by the egr valve. Sometimes the egr valve opens and allows this exhaust gas to pass into the intake so that ignition temps don't get too high and cause high levels of nitrogen oxides to form

That is exactly what I wanted. I thought that the intake had exhaust running through it also. Now I understand, thanks.
