Ford VC-3DIL-B

So I have always thought my truck was a little low on coolant. It is just below the line when cold and hasn't moved (going on 2 years). So today I was eating next to the Ford dealer and decided to go in and grab a gallon. I got the 50/50 mix VC-3DIL-B. To my surprise it was only $14.32 with tax. Is this the normal price or did they make a mistake? I thought it was way more expensive than that. Anyway after she cools down I'll add a little just so I think its full.

I see it around $12 - $13 before tax... sounds about right to me.

Remember that it's half water, so tha's actually like $28 per gallon for the coolant.

You can use DEX-Cool or any of the orange ELC coolants. I would check to see if WSS-M97B44-D2 is on the container.

It took more than I expected. Probably about 24-26 oz. I hope this isn't a developing problem.

Probably just evaporation from all of the heat cycles. If you are worried about it, I'd change the cap first and see, but probably nothing to it.

I think my concern was that it was just below the clear part of the tank so I couldn't see the coolant when the truck was cold. I filled it about halfway between the lip of the bottle and the cold level line. Now I can see that it has coolant so I feel a little better about it. I honestly haven't had the hood open since I changed the oil 2700 miles ago which was in October. I was connecting wiring for bed lights and noticed it was low on coolant.

When cold my coolant dips below the clear part. I raised that concern to a few different techs. NONE of them were concerned at all. Once I did get them to top it off and it sprayed out when the truck was hot and settled back down to that same level. (my 2011 F350) I haven' t bothered topping my 2015 off. When it's warm I've opened the hood and I can see coolant is above the "cold" mark.

I tested my coolant (both tests) at around 30K miles and it tested just fine. Nobody but me has touched my truck since so on my next interval I'm considering just adding some revitalizer and calling it good. My level is a little low and I was thinking of just adding the revitalizer to top it and kill two birds with one stone. Or should the revitalizer be added directly to the radiator?

Why not just get it tested and see whether you need it or not?

One word...laziness. I have both types of test strips and a bottle of the revitalizer sitting on the shelf. Thought it would be easier to just add some revitalizer as I don't think it would hurt anything to add it even if it didn't need it. I'm at 56K miles now and will most likely sell the truck around 90K miles so figured adding the revitalizer will get me through to the 90K miles.

Ok... At least you are honest about it... I'm not a chemical engineer, but my thought process is like yours. I can't see it hurting - just not needed. Just make sure it isn't the wrong revitalizer. Then you get to do a PITA chemical flush and fill... Like the dealer had to do to my 2011 that they put the wrong stuff in.
