1.5 ton header options

Hey everyone, just wondering what options are out there for headers (cast or tube) for a 1947 1.5 ton with a 239 c.i. flathead and original steering box? I also have to consider the dipstick, which is in the original configuration. The original exhaust manifolds I removed are in pretty poor shape, so I would be willing to just put replacement manifolds on it if necessary. The entire exhaust system is going to be replaced, so connecting to existing pipes is not really an issue.

Unless you do significant modifications to the engine you gain no power by adding headers. I'd get decent condition manifolds and put them back on. Save your money for other items.

I put the Speedway steel headers ($120) on my truck, my manifolds were both broken/ eaten away at a few ports. Make sure you note the 2 larger bolts at the front of the block- I don't know why Ford did that but for a moment I thought I had stripped a front hole when using replacement bolts.
I went ahead and fabb'ed dual exhaust- I'm hoping to see another 5 HP.

I think that the headers are ok. We are just working on these trucks for our own entertainment anyway. It is not like you are going to take the truck to the track and try to improve the e.t.
