Question What is a "Lariat"...?

Besides the expertly wielded loop of rope utilized
to ensnare the wayward calf...

I know it's a designation- like Custom Cab, Ranger XLT,
etc, but is it the top of the line? And is there such a truck
as a Ranger XLT Lariat? I know it's a stupid question, but
that never stopped me. Thanks for any insight on this.

Yes, it is the top of the line. There is a such thing as a Ranger XLT Lariat, my Uncle had a F250 variety. It was also a Camper Special.

knight -

That wasn't a stupid question.

Although I now have a question - What does the Lariat have that the XLT doesn't?

What is a "Lariat"...?

Historians, converge and debate, please!

To add to that, what would a "Camper Special" have in its
option list? "Wilma" has a second battery carrier and trailer
circuit like a Camper Special. 79_effie, was your uncle's truck
2 or 4 wheel drive?

Thanks guys

Just type *Camper special* in the search area for this forum.

I have posted the C/S features many times on here.

Ok,,, Im looking at a Ford brochure from 1978 and they have a Ranger Lariat and a Ranger XLT, but not a XLT Lariat.

Camper special: 60 amp alternator, oil guage, ammeter, swing out recreational mirrors, camper wiring harness, front and rear stabilizer bars, extra cooling package, HD shock absorbers, dual electric horns, HD in -tank oil cooler ( with cruise o matic)

OK, I guess my memory wasn't too good. To be honest, I was starting to doubt my memory anyway. It has been a while since I have seen the truck. Sorry if I misled anyone.

Lariats had the color matching/ upholstery seats that matched the door panels,, extra insulation in the headliner, map pockets on the bottom of the door, extra carpet on the cowl panels inside, two tone paint with the chrome, black tailgate applique.
