I think both 1 1/2 and 2 ton frames are double. But the 2 ton has thicker steel. I'll have to dig out the brochure that describes that. It is a 47 truck sales brochure. So it is possible that the vacuum booster and double frame rules don't apply for other years.

I daily drove a 57 F350 for several years. I don't know if it was stock equipment but it had a hdyro-boost and that truck had the best brakes of anything I've ever owned, including discs. If you layed into the pedal, better be ready to pry your mug off the windshield. Brake job done right with the shoes arced to the drums and the old velvet touch brake linings. Too bad you can't get them any more.
