ECO Boost GDI Maintenance

Check Engine light came on after 65K
Mechanic checked codes and recommends replacing plugs and boots
In addition he is recommending a GDI Maintenance cleaning and some kind of walnut blasting
From what I have been told that is BAD and not recommended by Ford and will cause warranty issues
My Mechanic is not Ford Authorized

Thank You for your time

Welcome to FTE?

What codes did he find?

I find a bunch of arguments about walnut blasting with a simple google search. Seems BMW is in on it as well.

Good morning Rich, this is your neighbor.

I gotta say brother that you are one of the most talented guys that I know. Having said that, I'm shocked that you didn't change the plugs yourself. Between you and I, we have the largest cache of tools on the block. I have a scan tool that would have identified your misfires. It worked on mine.

Please, stay away from this hack, he did enough damage to your beautiful truck. He may be a nice guy but clearly he doesn't understand the ecoboost engines.

Going forward, you'll need to address your cat problems and get on front of that before other issues develop down stream.

I suggest reviewing some videos from FordTechMakoLoco on Youtube. He covers some of the more common issues with the EB engine, including plugs and media blasting the intake. He's a trusted resource.
