my original linkage seemed sloppy so I built this straight throttle linkage. Its on a 70 f250 with a 390.

I've done the same on my 67 but you lose a lot of feel in the pedal and it sets the accelerator pedal higher in the cab. Ford designed theirs this way for a reason.

I lost no sensitivity and my pedal sits normally of the floor.

Really? If Ford did that for a reason, then why did they chuck it on the Dents?

Well, I gotta say I like the simplicity of one rod vs all that. I was extremely surprised to see that on my truck, there's an anchor rod to stabilize the trapeze to the firewall. Man, that's a lot of parts. I'll post what I come up with, it'll be better than the baling wire, anyway.

I found a significant difference in pedal feel without the factory set up. Ford did this for a good reason and I like their design approach and goals for 60's era light trucks epically 4 wheel drive applications. I am in the process of reinstalling the trapeze setup and adapting it to a Ford 4bbl carb set up.

If is was such a grand design, why did Ford dump it in 1973?

I ended up making one when I changed intake manifold on mine. Could not get the down shift linkage to work correctly without it.
